Yes. Re-using a sturdy shipping box is a great way to reduce waste and save money. Before shipping, carefully inspect the box to make sure it's still in good condition, and completely remove all previous labels, barcodes and markings.

Check the box for damage

Do not re-use a box if it has:

  • Dents

  • Tears

  • Holes

  • Soft spots or water damage

  • Any other damage that could weaken the box during transit

Remove all previous labels and markings

Before applying your new shipping label, completely remove:

  • Previous shipping labels

  • Barcodes

  • Hazmat labels or markings

  • Any other shipping stickers

Carrier scanners can read old barcodes and hazmat markings. If they're left on the box, your shipment may be misrouted, delayed or flagged for additional inspection.

This example photo shows, using red circles, all the previous labels and hazmat warnings that must be removed before re-using this box.
